Telecom Secretary called on the tech-giants to create smart human resources

The Posts and Telecommunications Secretary Abu Hena Morshed Zaman urged the technology giants to increase investment in Bangladesh to create smart human resources.

The secretary made this call in a separate meeting with the officials of the technology companies Huawei and ZTE and the mobile operators Telenor and Vion Group while visiting the stalls of various technology companies at the Mobile World Congress 2023 held in Barcelona.

Pointing out that digital technology and digital connectivity have changed the traditional lifestyle of the people of Bangladesh by making unimaginable transformations in all areas of life including industry, commerce and education, he said that the government is working to build a smart Bangladesh by 2041 on the strong foundation of digital Bangladesh. In addition to contributing to the development of digital infrastructure, come forward to take advantage of the opportunity to contribute in Bangladesh to the world's renowned technology giants including ZTE and Huawei in the innovative research and development sector to create smart human resources.

Meanwhile, the secretary reminded the telecom technology and service providers of the directives given earlier by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Mustafa Jabbar, to ensure uninterrupted mobile services of the desired quality in Bangladesh.

The Post and Telecommunication Secretary highlighted the overall progress of Bangladesh's telecom sector and said that Bangladesh's digital technology and digital connectivity sector is a thrust sector for investment. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dynamic leadership under the guidance of Prime Minister's Information and Communications Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy and the continuous efforts of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar has been able to achieve groundbreaking progress. He mentioned that digital Bangladesh is now a wonder of the world.

In order to implement Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's far-sighted Smart Bangladesh vision, the government is working to create strong digital infrastructure including 5G and digital transformation of education, the secretary said.

The Mobile World Congress was inaugurated on Monday (February 27) in Barcelona, ​​Spain with the slogan 'To empower people for a poverty-free world, let the technology of the future be unveiled today'. King Philip of Spain announced the opening in front of about one and a half million people. President of the country Prado Sanchez was also present at the opening ceremony.

One and a half million technology lovers from about 200 countries participated in the Mobile World Congress. King Philip welcomed everyone.

He urged to ensure the humane use of technology for the coming days and said, we have to go further with technology. Inventors and service providers must remember that technology does not dehumanize human civilization and turn it into a heartless machine.

The President of Spain also called for the same, saying that now is the most important time when using technology to ensure human welfare. The chairman of GSMA, the organization of various organizations providing information technology and telecommunication services in the world, along with other officials were present at the event.

GSMA chairman said that the character of this year's Mobile World Congress is a little different than before, which is reflected in the main theme. This year's main theme is to ensure the use of information technology to build a world free from poverty.

Mr. Mei, Senior Vice Chairman of ZTE Corporation, Catherine Guen, Huawei's Asia Pacific President of Commercial Affairs and senior officials of Telenor and Vion Group were present during the meeting.
